Haze expected to worsen this week — what employers should do for outdoor workers

NEA expects the 24-hour PSI to reach the Unhealthy range; MOM guidelines tell employers to cut prolonged or strenuous outdoor work when it does.

On 28 September NEA said air quality is expected to worsen, with the 24-hour PSI forecast in the high Moderate to mid Unhealthy range as smoke from Sumatra and Kalimantan blows towards Singapore. MOM's haze guidelines say employers should reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor work when the PSI is 101–200, avoid it at 201–300 and provide masks if it cannot be avoided, and give indoor rest breaks and enough water. Healthy people are advised to cut down on strenuous outdoor activity when the air is Unhealthy. If you feel unwell, tell your supervisor, and you can contact MOM on 6438 5122.
