Since September 2023 (expanded August 2024), Myanmar's government requires citizens working abroad to remit at least 25% of their foreign wages home through an official channel — a licensed bank or registered remittance provider linked to the banking system. Informal transfer methods (e.g. hundi) are not accepted. Non-compliance has been reported to affect passport renewal and the right to work overseas, so it is worth keeping proof of your official remittances.
