New rules from 23 Sept: eating, loud audio or feet on seats on buses can now cost you up to $500
New LTA rules let bus staff fine passengers up to $500 for eating, playing loud audio, or resting feet on seats — and up to $5,000 for causing danger or soiling the bus.
From 23 September 2026, LTA's new rules ban eating or drinking on buses, playing audio out loud, littering, and putting your feet on seats — bus captains and inspectors can now issue an on-the-spot fine of up to $500 for these. Causing danger to other passengers or soiling a bus, interchange or terminal can be fined up to $5,000. A bus captain can also ask you to get off the bus if you do not stop. The rules apply to everyone riding public buses in Singapore.
