Police warn of fake pop-up alerts pretending to be SPF demanding fine payment

If a pop-up says your device is "locked" by police and demands a fine, it is a scam — never enter your bank card details.

Singapore Police say scam pop-ups carrying the police logo are circulating again, claiming your phone or computer is locked for visiting illegal websites and demanding you pay a fine within hours using your bank card, often with a countdown timer to pressure you. The police never lock personal devices or collect fines through pop-up messages. If you see one, close it without entering any details — do not click links or call numbers shown on the pop-up. If you already entered your card details, contact your bank immediately and call the ScamShield Helpline at 1799.
