Two new dormitory sites announced — 23,100 more beds for workers from 2027

MOM and MND released two new sites for worker dormitories on 11 Sept 2026, adding to plans for about 71,500 more beds by the early 2030s.

Two new Purpose-Built Dormitory (PBD) sites were released for tender on 11 September 2026: one at Lorong Lada Hitam (15,000 beds, ready by Q1 2027) and one at Jurong Apartments (8,100 beds, ready by late 2027). Together with four other PBD projects already announced, six PBDs will add around 48,300 beds between 2027 and the early 2030s. Including MOM's second PBD at Sengkang West (7,200 beds) and four temporary Quick Build Dormitories (about 16,000 beds), the total addition comes to around 71,500 beds. Singapore currently has about 1,600 dormitories housing around 467,000 workers. MOM says it will also extend some existing dormitory leases while the new sites are being built.
