Before you agree to any fee

Use this checklist first.

  • 1Check if the agency is licensed in MOM's EA Directory. Avoid agencies marked under revocation, suspension or surveillance.
  • 2Check the individual agent too. Their card name and registration number should match MOM's EA Directory.
  • 3Do not hand over cash without a written receipt showing amount, date, purpose and company name.
  • 4Read what the deduction is for and for how many months. Keep a copy of any agreement you sign.
  • 5If someone pressures you to transfer money quickly, pause and verify through official MOM channels.

What evidence to keep every month

These documents help if you need to report or file a claim.

  • 1Payslips showing each monthly deduction.
  • 2Bank statements or transfer records proving what was paid.
  • 3WhatsApp/SMS/chat messages with the agency or employer.
  • 4Photos of receipts, contracts and any handwritten fee notes.
  • 5A simple timeline: when deduction started, how much each month, and when problems began.

If deductions look wrong or abusive

You can ask for help without waiting for the debt to grow.

  • 1Ask the agency/employer for a written breakdown of every deduction already taken.
  • 2Report suspected agency or work-pass infringements to MOM confidentially.
  • 3If this links to salary disputes, file a salary-related claim through TADM eServices within deadline.
  • 4If you are scared or threatened, call MWC/HOME or MOM immediately and keep your evidence safe.
