Overview

Bangkok works for a short leave (often 3–4 days): street food, temples and markets. Flights are the main cost; plan data and a card/cash mix.

What you need

  • 1Passport with enough validity (often 6+ months expected).
  • 2Confirmed Thai visa / exemption status for your nationality.
  • 3Enough approved leave days including travel days.
  • 4Booked flights with buffer for delays.
  • 5THB cash and/or travel card; notify your bank if needed.
  • 6Hotel booked with address you can show taxi/Grab drivers.
  • 7Travel eSIM or roaming plan ready before take-off.
  • 8Power bank for airport and BTS days.
  • 9Booking confirmation email/app screenshot offline.
  • 10Employer + embassy/helpline numbers saved.

How to get there

  • 1Compare LCC flights from Singapore — check baggage fees.
  • 2Airport rail link / bus into the city — often cheaper than taxi.
  • 3BTS/MRT for city travel once you have a ticket/card.
  • 4Grab for late nights or heavy bags.

Places & beauty spots

  • Grand Palace / Wat Pho area (dress modestly).
  • Chatuchak Weekend Market (weekends).
  • Chao Phraya river boats for views.
  • Iconsiam / malls for air-con and food courts.

Food to try

  • Street food — choose busy stalls.
  • Boat noodles and boat-noodle alleys.
  • Mango sticky rice as a treat.

Rough cost (SGD)

Indicative only — prices change. Budget = careful spending; mid = a bit more comfort.

  • Flights returnS$120–280
  • Hotel / nightS$35–90
  • Food / dayS$20–45
  • 3-day trip (budget)~S$250–500

These are planning ranges for one person, not quotes. Check ferry/flight sites the week you travel.

Tips

  • Know where you get the entry stamp / QR and keep the departure card if issued.
  • Install travel eSIM before take-off if your SG SIM has high roaming fees.
  • Use hotel safe or split cash; watch bags in markets.
  • Book near BTS/MRT on Agoda/Trip.com to save Grab costs.

Common mistakes

  • Buying a non-refundable flight before visa confirmation.
  • Airport taxi without a meter or fixed official counter.
  • Leaving passport in the hotel when some attractions ask for ID — carry a copy plus know hotel policy.

General travel tips only — not immigration, legal or financial advice. Visa rules for Myanmar passports differ by country and change often. Confirm with embassies, ICA and your employer before you go.
